Our personal experience

The end is in sight! We woke with a tinge of sadness, but refused to let it overshadow the euphoria of the epic journey we’d just lived through.

We started this day, our last day, in a hilarious way. Please see our video. Filmed in one take as we headed out towards our awaiting car to take us to the start line.

We were so excited to think we might actually achieve this…(if nothing drastic happens), but also so aware that our challenge was nearing its end. Bitter sweet.

It didn't take long to drop us off at binibequer Vell as now we were so close to the end it meant we were also so close to where we started and our accommodation.

We did a Facebook/Instagram live which when we look back on it we realise just how tired we were, we were delirious! talking absolute nonsense and laughing at nothing but finding everything hilarious......

We arrived at Alcaufar, wow, what a stunning little place. We highly recommend a visit here, it's tiny little village with a beach and it's quite steep so the villas all get a good view of the turquoise water below, it's definitely the sort of place that you could spend a few hours at.

We treated ourselves to a second breakfast over looking the most beautiful little cove. We had posted our shenanigans on the Menorca facebook group so as we made our way to our table we got recognised by a family who introduced themselves. We’d had so much support from friends and family it took us back a bit to know that strangers were kind enough to follow our story also. They politely asked after Claire’s blisters and discreetly asked after Naomi's bum chafe!

We later got recognised again by another lady who wrote online that she had spied us but didn’t want to disturb us. We wish she had! We secretly enjoyed the short lived fame.

From our vantage point we could see the other side of the harbour. The vast water stretched out before us dotted with little sail boats which were occasionally interrupted by a monster of a ship. The houses in the distance looked so small it was incredible to think we’d walked over there on our first day.

Peeing under a huge bill board as we entered the centre of Mahon will always be memorable. We were trundling along the main road with no discreet wild wee spot in sight. It represented our return into civilisation from the wild. Peeing under the canopy of a tree one minute and under a huge advertising board the next.

“Oi oi” shouted a very drunk local tumbling out of the fish market. He high fived us high in spirits and then tried to carry us both, one in each of his arms. He seemed genuinely celebratory for us. We can only assume he’d read about us too! We had to turn down his drinking invite as we still had about 400 yards to go.

Comparing our start photos on the steps of Santa Maria to our final photos taken you can see the difference in us. Not just the tans and the even more relaxed stance between us but you can actually ‘see adventure.’

Our adventure is now dwelling within us and forever there it will stay.
