“It’s all so nice!” — those words left our mouths more times than we could count in the first couple of days. Of course, we expected it to be beautiful; we came fully prepared for the breathtaking views of the beaches and the sea. But what truly surprised us was the unexpected richness of the flora and fauna. It seemed to appear out of nowhere, lining the roadside verges, clinging to bare rocks, and most enchantingly, blooming across meadows. We felt like we were in an episode of Little House on the Prairie at so many turns.

We think this was attributed to the fact that we went in May, we hadn't planned to go in May, we'd originally planned September so the sea would be warm for a few dips along the route, then personal reasons (a wedding!) changed it to the following May.
Now that we've done it, we wouldn’t change a thing. If we were to do it again, we’d still choose either April/May (or) September. The temperature in May was ideal - June, July, and August would be far too hot. It also wasn’t overly crowded, and the late spring flowers were absolutely stunning.
While the main advantage of going in September would be warmer sea temperatures, for us, the butterflies and wildflower meadows of May more than made up for it.

In a nutshell:
If you're into wildflowers, butterflies, quiet trails, and comfy walking weather – go in April or May.
If a warm sea for swimming matters more and you don’t mind things looking a bit drier – September is your month.
And it goes without saying - DO NOT attempt it in August!
