The “official” starting point is the power station at the top of the harbour in Mahon. Despite many years of visiting Mahon regularly, it only just occurred to Claire that the red and white stripes on the power station tower are the same colours as the Cami de Cavalls markers. We don’t know if that’s intentional or just a coincidence, but either way it makes for a very helpful and obvious guide to the starting point!

However, you can of course start from anywhere along the route. If you’re doing the full 360, you’ll naturally finish where you began, and that’s why we chose the Santa Maria Church as our starting point. Completing the Cami is a big deal, especially if you’re doing it in a short period of time and raising money for charity. Don’t undersell yourself: you’re doing an amazing thing! So end it with some ceremony. End it somewhere you might have an audience. But most importantly, end it where there’s a bar so you can get a well-earned beer!

We felt that the grandness of the church steps, in front of its beautiful entrance, reflected the grandness of what we were about to embark on. And at the end, when we had achieved it…

The funny thing is, despite all our planning, we had no audience. No one was there to greet us. No one bought us a beer. No one clapped. There wasn’t even a ribbon finish line!!

There was, however, a rather drunk local who seemed to understand that we had just completed something big. He tried to pick us both up at the same time. It didn’t quite work out, but we’ll always be grateful for the slurred congratulations and the high-fives!

Another tip we can offer is it's worth plotting a clockwise and anti-clockwise route - simply due to weather, Menorca is famous for its tramontana wind and it comes though and can stay for a few days, if it is due to come form the north it's worth going round the south and vice versa

Generally people go anti clockwise, initially we didn't know why however on doing some research it would appear it is due to the fact that the low morning sun doesn't blind you if you walk west and instead it warms your back - makes sense!

Here's our rough guide written in our phone notes, we didn't follow it precisely but it's a good guide which you may find useful
